Catahoula Parish Release Records
A release is a custody event. It should be shown by a dated transaction, not inferred from an empty search. The Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office keeps the physical booking and movement record for the parish jail. The Catahoula Parish Clerk of Court keeps the criminal docket and minutes that explain the court's legal action. Louisiana DPS&C records a state prisoner's custody or community-supervision status. Those records answer different questions, so a sound Catahoula Parish released inmate search often needs more than one.
A person can leave Catahoula Parish Jail because of bond, an unsecured release, dismissal, time served, completion of a parish sentence, or transfer. Parole means a person serves the balance of a prison term in the community under DPS&C supervision. Probation is a court-ordered form of supervision and may occur without a prison term. A transfer is not a community release. The destination and legal custodian decide which record should be checked next.
- Discharge
- The end of the relevant custody or supervision duty.
- Time served
- A judgment or sentence credit recognizing time already spent in custody.
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may let another authority take custody.
- Transfer
- Movement to another facility or agency while confinement continues.
Catahoula Parish Release Types
The release label tells only part of the story. A bond resolves custody pending court, not the charge itself. A dismissal concerns prosecution, but another case or hold can still prevent release. Completion of a term ends one custodial basis, while a detainer may lead to immediate pickup. For that reason, the release transaction should include the destination or receiving agency when that field can lawfully be supplied.
| Release type | Meaning | Next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Pretrial release under a court-approved condition | Sheriff transaction and bond order |
| Time served or sentence complete | The local custodial term or credit ended | Sentencing minutes and release entry |
| Parole | Community release while a sentence remains active | LAVNS, Board result, Alexandria office |
| Probation | Court-ordered community supervision | Probation order and DPS&C status |
| Transfer or detainer pickup | Custody continues under another agency | Receiving agency's locator or movement record |
Does a missing name prove release? No. It may reflect transfer, court movement, a data correction, a delayed update, or another custody ending. Positive dated evidence is stronger.
Catahoula Parish Release Record Fields
A full event record ties a person and booking to a time, authority, and outcome. Not every internal field is public. Still, a narrow request can seek the adult booking information summary and the release or movement transaction. The result should be read with the court docket. A court order may authorize release, while the sheriff's transaction shows when the order was carried out and whether another agency received the person.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | Which person the event concerns |
| Booking or case number | The custody episode and related case |
| Admission and release time | The physical custody window |
| Release type and authority | The stated basis for the movement |
| Facility and destination | Where custody ended and whether another agency received the person |
| Charges, bond, or sentence credit | Legal context, when releasable |
| Transaction identifier | The staff or system entry supporting the event |
The old Catahoula LAVNS roster exposed only a small set of current-list fields. It did not provide the release time, release reason, destination, bond disposition, or a released-person archive. Web visibility is not the same as record retention.
Request Catahoula Parish Release Records
No special local online form, fixed fee, or promised response time was verified. Address a written Louisiana Public Records Law request to the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office records custodian. Keep it exact. Ask for electronic copies and an advance cost estimate. A narrow request makes it easier to identify public portions while allowing the custodian to cite any lawful withholding.
- Give the legal name, date of birth if known, approximate booking dates, and a booking or case number.
- Request the article 228 booking entry and booking information summary.
- Request the custody-movement or release transaction, date and time, type, releasing authority, and receiving agency or destination.
- Ask separately for any releasable bond or detainer notation. Ask for a booking photograph only as a separate item.
- Request electronic delivery, an advance estimate, and a written statutory reason for any withheld field.

CPSO corrections information
Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure article 228 says the jail book and booking summaries are always open for public inspection. R.S. 44:3 preserves access to those booking records while allowing protection of certain investigative or security material. The exact release movement may contain both public and protected fields, so ask for segregation rather than the whole jail file.
Catahoula Parish Expunged Records
Louisiana expungement removes eligible arrest and conviction material from public access; it does not mean every copy is destroyed. The covered material can include photographs, fingerprints, and disposition records. Qualifying misdemeanor and felony routes have different waiting periods, exclusions, and conditions. The common statutory paths include periods measured after completion of the sentence, deferred adjudication, probation, or parole.
Articles 972 and 977 through 983 govern key parts of the process. Ordinary combined charges are capped at $550, with exemptions and an in-forma-pauperis route in the law. Article 986 requires statutory forms. The Catahoula Parish Clerk of Court is the local filing contact. A failed public search may result from lawful expungement or sealing, but the absence alone does not prove that either occurred.
Juvenile records also have separate protections. The Central Louisiana Juvenile Detention Center should not be treated as an adult released-person source, and no names or images of children should be pursued through public adult-search methods.
Catahoula Parish Court Release Proof
Catahoula and Concordia Parishes share the Seventh Judicial District. That makes the clerk's docket and minutes a durable local source after a jail list changes. Request the docket, charging instrument, bond order, plea or verdict, sentencing minutes, commitment, amended commitment, dismissal, probation order, revocation, and satisfaction or discharge entry as relevant.
Each item has limits. A bond order establishes authority but not the gate time. Sentencing minutes may show credit for time served and whether terms run at once or one after another. A dismissal resolves the listed prosecution, yet another hold may remain. A probation order explains community supervision. Pair the judicial record with the sheriff's physical release entry to show both legal cause and implementation.
Note: Court authority and physical release are separate events, so both records should agree before community release is treated as confirmed.
Find Catahoula Parish Released Inmates
Begin with identity, not a name alone. Collect an alias, date of birth, booking date, and any booking, court, DPS&C, FBI, BOP, or immigration number that lawfully applies. Compare at least one corroborating identifier, and prefer two. If demographic details conflict, stop and contact the record custodian. Never blend similar records.
- Check the official CPSO Arrests page, while recognizing that it was empty on the July 20, 2026 research date and offered no current search.
- Search statewide Louisiana LAVNS by name or ID. Widen the location filter because a transfer may move the person out of Catahoula.
- Call the jail at 318-744-5411 and ask whether the person was released, transferred, or held under another booking identifier.
- Request the sheriff's dated movement or release transaction and then obtain the Seventh Judicial District court minutes.
- For state custody, call the DPS&C locator. For federal or immigration custody, use the system belonging to that legal custodian.
Document the query date, selected jurisdiction, spelling, and exact status. A later correction should not erase the fact that an earlier result was provisional. For a full explanation of the county search and the release record, these steps are the core path rather than a link to a separate search page.
Catahoula Parish DPS&C Release Search
Louisiana DPS&C directs public searches to LAVNS instead of a separate DOC database. The system includes people in prison and people under probation or parole supervision, and DPS&C says the data update every 24 hours. Choose Louisiana, search by name or ID or case number, and use a location filter only after a broad search. Read the exact agency, location, status, and update date.
| Search field | Use | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Broad identity search | Try aliases and verify DOB |
| ID or case number | More precise match | Use the correct agency's number |
| Location | Narrow current results | May hide a transferred person |
| Status and update date | Records the current snapshot | Not the sheriff's release transaction |
The DPS&C inmate-information page also gives the automated locator number, 225-383-4580. With a DPS&C number or a name and date of birth, it can provide current placement, facility contact details, and a projected release date when applicable.

The captured agency page confirms why statewide searching matters after a person leaves a Catahoula Parish facility, but an actual release still requires the event record.
Catahoula Parish Recent Release Limits
No official current 24-hour or 72-hour Catahoula Parish release feed was found. The CPSO Arrests page was empty, with no roster, search form, released filter, or release archive. Historical indexed pages show an older current-custody roster with name, date of birth, race, gender, arrest date, count, timestamp, and an alert invitation. Those snapshots do not establish current availability and cannot show why a name vanished.
For a time window, give the sheriff an exact start and end date and time. Ask for releasable release transactions in that period, then separate community releases from transfers, agency pickups, and other custody endings. Statewide LAVNS notification is useful for a named person. It is not a substitute for a local release log.
The official CPSO iOS app describes tips, news, interactive tools, and public-safety information. It does not claim a release list, inmate lookup, or mugshot gallery. Do not assume features used by sheriff apps in other parishes exist here.
Catahoula Parish Supervision Records
LAVNS can show probation or parole community supervision. The Alexandria Probation and Parole District Office serves Catahoula Parish and five other parishes. Contact it for allowed reporting and office information when a state result shows supervision. The Louisiana Board of Pardons & Committee on Parole makes parole decisions, while the Division of Probation and Parole supervises the person after actual release.
A Board grant is not proof of physical release. Processing, a rescission, or a detainer may intervene. Confirm the Board outcome through its docket and results, then confirm actual release with LAVNS or DPS&C and the receiving office. The focused Catahoula Parish parole and probation record explains the Alexandria office and verification sequence.
Catahoula Parish Release Notifications
Louisiana's notification service is LAVNS, available through VINELink and at 866-528-6748. On the correct record, use the offered registration control and complete the live confirmation steps. Read the whole notice because a custody change can mean release, transfer, escape, or return. Save the event date, agency, and wording. Local LAVNS registration is distinct from Louisiana Victim Outreach enrollment for formal state-prison projected and actual release notices.
Federal systems are separate. The BOP locator covers sentenced federal prisoners from 1982 onward and can display a release date or a released status. A federal pretrial detainee held for the U.S. Marshals Service may not appear there. Use the federal court, counsel, the Marshal's office, and named facility. ICE's locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody during a limited recent window. A nonmatch in any one federal system is not conclusive.
Note: A registry covers only people with a legal registration duty and is never a general Catahoula Parish release list.
Catahoula Parish Release System Match
The correct channel follows the custody population. A live roster is evidence of current listing, while a release transaction is evidence of departure. State and federal databases record other custodians. Court minutes explain the legal basis but rarely the exact gate time.
| System | Best use | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| CPSO and jail records | Local booking and physical release or transfer | Later state or federal status |
| LAVNS and DPS&C | State prison or community supervision snapshot | Exact parish-jail release transaction |
| Clerk and Seventh JDC | Bond, sentence, dismissal, probation, revocation | Physical exit time |
| BOP | Sentenced federal custody and release date | USMS, ICE, state, or supervision status |
| ICE ODLS | Searchable immigration detention and recent ICE release | Permanent release archive or every protected case |
Catahoula Work Release Outcomes
A Louisiana Legislative Auditor report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024 reviewed the Catahoula Correction Center Transitional Work Release Program. It counted 28 participants in that reviewed population, one community release, and 23 transfers. These are program facts, not totals for the 900-capacity correctional center or the parish jail.
The figures show why leaving a building should not be translated into freedom. In that dated program sample, transfers far outnumbered community release. The movement record and receiving custodian remain essential.
Catahoula Parish Release Date Errors
DPS&C says a person in prison receives a Master Prison Record that reflects sentence calculation. The full prison record is confidential under R.S. 15:574.12, so a public caller should use 225-383-4580 for a calculated release date. If calculation information is wrong, the affected person uses the institution and DPS&C administrative-remedy process rather than expecting the public locator to expose the worksheet.
A date may be absent while DPS&C waits for official sentencing material. It can change when court papers, jail credit, consecutive terms, good-time forfeiture or restoration, detainers, or new judgments alter the calculation. A projected date is not an actual release event. Preserve the date of the query and verify the later custody transaction.
Catahoula Immigration Release Checks
Catahoula Correctional Center has documented ICE contract history in federal inspection records. That makes immigration custody a real local search branch, but the historical evidence does not prove a current contract or the status of each person housed there. Leaving the center may mean release by ICE, transfer to another detention site, removal from the United States, or return to another custodian.
Use ODLS with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, adding leading zeros when needed, or use exact biographical data. If no match appears, contact ICE because recent admissions, transfers, and protected cases may not display. A local detainer can turn a scheduled jail release into pickup by ICE. Thus, departure from CPSO custody may not be community release.
Catahoula Parish Custody Name Trap
Catahoula Parish Jail and Catahoula Correctional Center are not interchangeable search labels. The jail is the parish facility for local booking and release transactions. The correctional center has housed mixed or contract populations, and the proper locator can belong to DPS&C, ICE, USMS, another parish, or another contracting jurisdiction.
Ask which agency has legal custody before searching. The building name alone may point to the wrong database. If the person is a Louisiana state prisoner housed locally, DPS&C remains the legal custodian. If held for ICE, use ODLS and ERO. A federal pretrial matter follows the USMS and federal-court route. This one question prevents many false release conclusions.
Catahoula Parish Release Facilities
Three facilities serve distinct populations. The Catahoula Parish Jail handles local adult custody; confirm release through CPSO and the Seventh JDC. Catahoula Correctional Center requires a legal-custodian check before selecting DPS&C, ICE, USMS, or another route. Central Louisiana Juvenile Detention Center is a protected regional juvenile facility, so authorized persons must use the facility, juvenile court, or counsel rather than adult public-search channels.
A Catahoula Parish release record is most reliable when it names the releasing facility and any receiving agency. That distinction separates community release from transfer and protects against false assumptions based on one missing roster entry.
